Analytical insights on Hammertoe Market covering market dynamics, competitive landscape, and strategic outlook.
The Hammertoe Market market is projected to reach $288.60M by 2023, growing at 11.1% CAGR. The Rigid segment holds the largest share.
Hammertoe is a feet related problem in which the feet bend permanently. The problem occurs due to an imbalance in ligaments and muscles which hold the toe straight. Hammertoe bends the toe downward instead of keeping it straight. One of the reasons causing hammertoe includes wearing a small size or narrow shoes that bend the toe. t. Other reasons that can cause hammertoe include certain vein or muscle damage, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, stroke, Charcot–Marie–Tooth disease, and other feet problems. The discomfort and pain caused due to hammertoe can be controlled by changing the footwear. Usually, hammertoe occurs due to wrong selection of shoes that affects toe muscles, but in some cases, this problem may be present by birth itself. The increasing prevalence of arthritis and growing R&D expenditure in the healthcare industry boost market growth rapidly. However, factors such as complications and pain associated with surgeries risk of infections during surgical treatments and hospital stay, and lack of awareness are expected to hinder the market growth.
Arthritis is a most common joint related problem which may occur due to osteoporosis and increasing age. Arthritis is one of the reasons for causing hammertoe at any age. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention February 2018, it was reported that the prevalence of arthritis is increasing with age. It has also been estimated that 54.4 million of the population has been diagnosed with arthritis, in which 23.4 % of women and 18.1% of men had arthritis. It was predicted that 78.4 million people above 18 years are likely to be diagnosed with arthritis by 2040 in the US. Therefore, the increasing prevalence of arthritis among the population will boost market growth.
The number of patients suffering from hammertoe is growing along with the increase in complications associated with this condition. According to the OMICS International 2018 publication, it was reported that hammertoe is becoming more rigid and painful. Furthermore, it was also reported that the prevalence rate of foot defect was found to be around 12% of the total population.
Hammertoe can be treated by various methods such as surgical and non-surgical. In surgical methods, it is performed by arthroplasty and arthrodesis. During surgical treatments, there is a risk of getting bacterial infections or cross-contamination by surgical instruments during a hospital stay. According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information in August 2017, it was reported that the prevalence of surgical site infection (SSI) during surgical procedures is 0.1 to 50%. Such a high range of surgical contamination is likely to hinder the market growth.
Near-term growth will likely concentrate in modular bioreactor lines and closed-system media workflows that shorten validation cycles while preserving batch traceability.
Partnerships between CDMOs and instrumentation vendors should accelerate standard datasets for comparability across sites, improving forecasting models used in capacity planning.
Longer horizon, organoid and microphysiological adoption may reshape segment mix; teams that invest early in assay interoperability and cloud QC hooks are better positioned to capture upside without fragmenting their analytics stack.
