The global SS7 market is expected to grow at a steady rate during the forecast period, 2019–2025. Migration to intelligent networks has increased the overall reliability of the network. Increasing use of SS7 over asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) are some of the factors driving the growth of the market. However, roaming complexity and lack of network security are some of the factors that can hamper the growth of the market.
Globally, the SS7 market has been categorized into five regions—North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa, and South America.
North America is expected to dominate the market with its largest share in the global SS7. This is due to the region being the most technologically advanced. The migration to the advanced intelligent network (AIN) and intelligent networks (IN) began very early in this region. SS7 is being used to manage intelligent routing, screening services, and number portability (NP) for a long time in this region. Due to this, the market in this region is already mature and expected to witness a slow growth rate. For the purpose of our analysis, the North American market has been divided into the US, Canada, and Mexico.
Europe holds the second-largest share in the global market. Growth in Europe is due to the developments in the telecom and robust networking infrastructure, which have created a high potential for the growth of the SS7 market during the forecast period.
The Middle East & Africa region is expected to register highest CAGR owing to its tremendous growth prospects as the demand for the legacy SS7 circuit-switched infrastructure is high in the region.
The major vendors in the global SS7 market are Mitel Networks Corporation (Canada), Oracle Corporation (US), Tieto (Finland), Ribbon Communications (US), NetNumber Inc (Netherlands), Ericsson AB (Sweden), Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd (China), Dialogic Corporation (US), TNS Inc (US), and PCCW Global (Hong Kong).
These vendors have adopted several organic and inorganic growth strategies such as new product development, partnerships and collaborations, and mergers and acquisitions, to increase their offerings in the global market.
The SS7 Market market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 4.1% from 2017 to 2025.

Analytical insights on SS7 Market covering market dynamics, competitive landscape, and strategic outlook.
The SS7 Market market is projected to reach $1.18B by 2025, growing at 4.1% CAGR. The SS7 Firewall segment holds the largest share.
Signaling System 7 (SS7) is a standard for the telephone signaling network. It uses common channel signaling, wherein a single channel conveys, through categorized messages, signaling information regarding a multiplicity of circuits or calls and other facts, along with that used for network control. It works as a separate network with its own nodes and links to provide support to the conventional voice network. It is a digital packet-switched network that can carry information several calls over the same link simultaneously. SS7 network and protocol, when combined with intelligent network (IN) or advanced intelligent network (AIN), support several different services that can be implemented without any modification to the network structure. The minor modification in the network helps generate increased message load to be further used as a reliable network performance through which the nodes can handle the traffic. Owing to the benefits of the intelligent network, the SS7 market is driven by the migration to intelligent networks for better reliability and enhanced signal quality.
SIGTRAN is a protocol suite intended to transport signaling protocols over IP and is an extension of the SS7 protocol family. It supports the same application and call management paradigms as SS7 but uses an Internet Protocol (IP) transport called Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP). In applications where high availability is not required, TCP may replace SCTP.
A typical use for SIGTRAN is in signaling gateways that allow voice over IP networks to interwork with traditional telephone networks using circuit switching and SS7. The gateway receives the signaling messages coming from the SS7 network and forwards them on the IP side with SIGTRAN.
The SIGTRAN-SS7 over IP is used to manage signaling traffic between an application and the core network. It enables user applications to interface directly to IMS and LTE networks for the realization of high-value services in areas such as mobility, charging, and location. Various companies offer SIGTRAN Stacks to deliver numerous benefits such as a versatile architecture allowing systems to scale as service volume grow and the portability of applications from TDM SS7 to SIGTRAN Stack based implementations. SIGTRAN (SS7/IP) software source code solutions provided by several companies enable seamless convergence and inter-working of PSTN and IP protocols under a unified architecture. The framework defines a modular structure that uses a common reliable transport protocol and allows the definition of adaptation modules for different PSTN control protocols. The second and third generations of mobile networks i.e. 2G/3G were based on SS7 to exchange information among different elements of the same network or between networks (call routing, roaming information, features available to subscriber etc.). The current mobile generation - 4G - uses Diameter as a replacement for SS7. However, all generations – 2G/3G/4G – have kept the same interconnect principles, inherited from wireline networks.
The next step in the designing and implementing transport protocol is to offer services of either TCP or SCTP on top of IP, network operators and equipment vendors as the network requires real-time, sequence delivery of messages.
SS7 majorly supports 2G and 3G cellular connections. The advancement in cellular technologies, such as LTE and VoLTE as well as upcoming 5G, are not supported by SS7. Diameter signaling is replacing SS7 to support the communication of these advanced technologies. Therefore, in the upcoming years, the demand for SS7 solutions and services is expected to decline while that of diameter signaling is expected to upsurge.
Near-term growth will likely concentrate in modular bioreactor lines and closed-system media workflows that shorten validation cycles while preserving batch traceability.
Partnerships between CDMOs and instrumentation vendors should accelerate standard datasets for comparability across sites, improving forecasting models used in capacity planning.
Longer horizon, organoid and microphysiological adoption may reshape segment mix; teams that invest early in assay interoperability and cloud QC hooks are better positioned to capture upside without fragmenting their analytics stack.
