Company Working: Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is a steel and iron manufacturing company. It is owned by the Government of India (GOI) with a 75% equity stake. It operates seven integrated steel plants at different locations across India. The company has nine iron ore, seven flux, and six coal mines in Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and West Bengal. It has 37 branch offices, 25 departmental warehouses, and 24 consignment agency yards. The company has approximately 1,970 distributors across the country.
It produces silico manganese at its Chandrapur Ferro Alloy plant in Maharashtra.
Strategy
SAIL focuses on increasing production from new and modernized units and installing automated smart systems in its production facilities. The company aims to optimize workforce utilization, exporting 10% of its products, and establish strong relationships with raw material suppliers in India and overseas markets. Furthermore, the company plans to expand the capacity of power plants to meet the growing requirement of electricity globally.
