Company Working: Hindalco Industries Limited (Hindalco) is a subsidiary of the Aditya Birla Group and is the world’s largest aluminum rolling company and one of Asia’s largest producers of aluminum. The company has a presence in more than 12 countries across the globe with 51 manufacturing units. Its Indian aluminum operations are integrated and consist of alumina refining and bauxite mining, among others. The company caters to a wide range of industries such as construction, electrical, transportation, packaging, and defence. It also exports aluminum extrusions to the US, Canada, Germany, the UK, France, the UAE, South Africa, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Hindalco’s acquisition of Novelis Inc in 2007. helped extend its global footprint and secure a position among the top five aluminum majors. Some of its major subsidiaries include Utkal Alumina International, AV Minerals (Netherlands) BV, and Birla Resources Pty Ltd.
Strategy
Hindalco invests substantially in research and development to introduce new products and maintain its market dominance. The company also is focused on increasing its downstream production of wire rods to cater to the growing demand in the electronics industry.
